eFishery, an Indonesia-based aquaculture firm, has acquihired DycodeX, a local AI-powered IoT startup, in an undisclosed deal.

The acquisition will enable eFishery to expand its AI plans, which include the launch of a new brand called eFishery.ai. The DycodeX team will join eFishery’s artificial intelligence of things (AIoT) and cultivation intelligence team, led by DycodeX co-founder and CEO Andri Yadi as vice president.

eFishery’s ambitious product roadmap

With the new team onboard, eFishery has outlined a two- to three-year roadmap that includes the launch of 10 new products.

These products will comprise IoT products and platforms, a generative AI product, and other aquaculture intelligence solutions. eFishery currently offers an AI-powered product called eFeeder, which enables automatic feeding for fish and shrimp cultivation, along with a feed marketplace and a B2B platform for fish trading.

The hard work finally paid off

eFishery CEO Gibran Huzaifah praised Andri Yadi and his team for their potential to strengthen and accelerate the implementation of AI and IoT in the eFishery ecosystem.

The company expects the product development cycle to be 3x to 4x faster with the addition of the DycodeX team.

This acquihire comes at a time when eFishery is in expansion mode, having entered India, its first overseas market, and raising 200 million in series D funding last year, which boosted its valuation to US1.4 billion.

As of January 2024, eFishery boasts 200,000 fish farmers as clients.
