- YouTube launches ‘Hype’ for smaller creators
- Fans boost videos onto leaderboards
- Feature empowers audience engagement, potentially revolutionizing creator growth strategies
Fan Power Unleashed
YouTube has unveiled ‘Hype’, a groundbreaking feature empowering fans to propel smaller creators into the spotlight.
This innovative tool allows viewers to boost videos from channels under 500,000 subscribers, potentially catapulting them onto a leaderboard of top hyped content.
Climbing the Ranks
Users can now click the ‘Hype’ button, located beneath the familiar ‘like’ option, to show support. Each click helps elevate the video’s position on a top 100 leaderboard, increasing its chances of reaching a broader audience.
To maintain fairness, YouTube currently limits users to three ‘hypes’ per week.
The Future of Fan Engagement
YouTube plans to introduce purchasable ‘hypes’ in the future, opening a new revenue stream. The platform is also considering allowing creators to see who hyped their videos, further strengthening the creator-fan connection.
Early beta tests across Turkey, Taiwan, Brazil yielded impressive results, signaling a promising start for this fan-driven growth initiative.
