VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, is making significant strides in its Indonesian expansion by opening one of its first dealerships in the country.

Indonesia’s electric dreams
Indonesia, which has seen growing consumer demand for EVs, has ambitious goals of its own.
The country aims to produce approximately 600,000 EV units, a staggering 100-fold increase compared to the number of electric vehicle sales in Indonesia for the first half of last year.
VinFast’s Indonesian expansion is just one part of its global growth strategy.
The company aims to establish a presence in at least 50 countries by 2024, actively growing its footprint in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, alongside established markets like the US, Canada, and Europe.
To support this growth, VinFast plans to create new EV factories in the US, India, and Indonesia, with a recently announced US$500 million EV factory in India that boasts an annual capacity of up to 150,000 units.
