- Audible embraces AI for audiobooks
- Narrators train voices
- Royalty-sharing model ensures fair compensation
Voice of the future
Audible, Amazon’s audiobook giant, is stepping into the AI realm. The company announced plans to use AI trained on professional narrators’ voices to create new audiobook recordings.
Narrators in the loop
Starting this week, a select group of U.S.-based narrators will be invited to train AI on their voices.
These narrators will have approval rights over their synthetic voices and can edit pronunciation and pacing.
Fair compensation
Audible promises a royalty-sharing model, compensating narrators on a title-by-title basis for any audiobooks created using their AI voices.
