- Apple unveils AI-powered visual search
- iPhone camera gets smarter
- Privacy remains priority in rollout
Seeing is believing
Apple has announced the introduction of “visual intelligence” to the iPhone, powered by Apple Intelligence.
This new feature, unveiled at the Apple Event 2024, brings advanced visual search capabilities to users’ fingertips.
Snap and search
The new Camera Control button on iPhone 16 and 16 Plus can launch visual intelligence, combining reverse image search with text recognition.
Users can quickly gather information about restaurants, add event details to their calendar, or even get homework help through integration with ChatGPT.
Privacy first, global rollout
Apple emphasizes that this feature respects user privacy, with no image storage on Apple services. Visual intelligence will launch in beta this October for U.S. English users, with a global rollout planned for December and early 2025.
