Tech titan Apple announced a massive $250 million investment to expand its Singapore campus.
Construction commences later this year, creating space for growth and new roles in artificial intelligence (AI) and other key functions.
Green upgrades on the menu
The expansion includes a “major upgrade” to two buildings Apple acquired in 2022, adjacent to its existing offices in Ang Mo Kio.
True to form, the expanded campus will run entirely on renewable energy. Since its humble beginnings with 72 employees in 1981, Apple’s Singapore workforce has swelled to over 3,600.
CEO Tim Cook, on a Southeast Asia tour, expressed excitement for “many more decades of innovation to come.”
In a related development, ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has its sights set on Singapore for its generative AI push, actively posting job openings in the city-state.
