BeeX Secures $2M for Offshore Wind Expansion
Singapore – BeeX, a Singapore-based developer of autonomous underwater robots founded in 2018, has raised $2 million in a new funding round to boost its offshore wind industry offerings.
The bridge financing was co-led by Earth Venture Capital and ShipsFocus Ventures.
BeeX was started by researchers Grace Chia and Goh Eng Wei from the National University of Singapore. The company builds intelligent robots capable of fully autonomous inspections, surveys and interventions for maritime and offshore energy customers.
Accelerating Growth in Offshore Wind
The fresh funds will help accelerate go-to-market efforts for BeeX’s underwater drones tailored to the fast-growing offshore wind sector. The startup’s current hovering autonomous underwater vehicle (HAUV) is called A.Ikanbilis.
By end-2024, BeeX plans to launch an advanced HAUV named Betta to meet heightened demand.
Other investors joining the round include SeedS Capital, the investment arm of Enterprise Singapore, NUS Technology Holdings and Infinita VC.
BeeX’s Role in Renewable Energy Markets
“This capital will allow us to scale up our capabilities in renewable energy markets like offshore wind,” said BeeX CEO Arul Sivagananathan.
“Our automated underwater robots can help reduce costs and improve safety.”
The funding comes as BeeX prepares to deploy its underwater drone fleet to major offshore wind developers in Europe and Asia. The company aims to position itself as a critical enabler in the rapidly expanding offshore wind industry.
