Oops, They Did It Again

TikTok finds itself in hot water after internal documents accidentally became public due to a redaction error.

These documents, part of a multi-state lawsuit, suggest the company knew its algorithm could harm children’s mental health. The revelation has sparked outrage among lawmakers and child safety advocates.

The Numbers Game

According to the leaked information, TikTok’s own research indicates that users can become addicted after viewing just 260 videos – roughly 35 minutes of content.

The documents also highlight concerns about the app’s impact on critical thinking skills, empathy, and anxiety levels among young users.

Damage Control Mode

TikTok disputes these claims, stating the information is outdated and taken out of context. However, lawyers representing plaintiffs in social media harm cases argue that these revelations align with their allegations about tech companies prioritizing engagement over user well-being.

The controversy raises important questions about digital ethics and corporate responsibility.
