Jumpstarting the AI Film Ecosystem
Runway, a pioneer in AI video generation, has announced a $5 million fund to support up to 100 original films using its generative video model. The initiative aims to catalyze the adoption of AI in filmmaking across various formats.
Flexible Funding and Creative Freedom
The Hundred Film Fund offers cash grants and up to $2 million in Runway credits.
While the company hints at potential growth to $10 million, the exact distribution of funds remains flexible. Importantly, Runway will not assert ownership over the funded projects.
Industry Heavyweights Join as Advisors
To bolster the initiative’s credibility, Runway has enlisted advisors including Tribeca Film Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal and musician will.i.am.
These industry veterans will help select awardees and potentially offer additional support.
