Sole mates: a way to be eco-chic

Anothersole, founded in Singapore in 2016 by Benny Chee and Phoebe Charn, has transformed from a fast fashion supplier into a beacon of sustainable footwear.

The company now boasts 8 physical stores and ships to over 50 countries, having sold more than 200,000 pairs of shoes by 2024.

Their innovative approach includes using recycled plastic bottles, leather scraps, and plant-based materials in their products.

These boots are made for talking

Despite initial skepticism about their business model, Anothersole’s commitment to quality and sustainability has paid off.

The brand’s popularity soared among Singaporean women, leading to remarkable customer loyalty – some owning up to 10 pairs of the same shoe in different colors.

This success propelled the company’s expansion, including a 4-month retail popup in New York and a billboard feature in Times Square.

If the shoe fits, expand it

Anothersole’s growth shows no signs of slowing down. The company has experienced over 400% growth in the last two years and recently opened its first Malaysian store at Seibu in January 2024.

Looking ahead, the brand aims to enter the luxury goods market and eventually establish a physical presence in the US.

Through it all, Anothersole maintains its core values of sustainability and social responsibility, donating 10% of net profits to child-focused charities.
