Game on, worries off

Singapore-based startup k-ID has raised a whopping $45 million in Series A funding to tackle the challenge of keeping kids safe in the digital gaming world.

The round was co-led by Andreessen Horowitz Games and Lightspeed Venture Partners, bringing k-ID’s total funding to $51 million.

This substantial investment underscores the growing importance of child safety and compliance in the gaming industry, where companies face billions in potential fines for non-compliance.

k-ID’s platform offers a triple win. For game developers and publishers, it provides a simple, scalable solution to meet diverse compliance requirements across markets through an API or SDK.

Kids benefit from a single sign-on (SSO) system that adapts games based on age, geography, and local laws.

Parents gain access to a control hub where they can manage permissions, oversee in-game spending, set curfews, and monitor playtime – all through a user-friendly QR code system.

Unlocking the next level

The fresh capital will be used to enhance k-ID’s platform capabilities. By addressing the complex landscape of child safety regulations in gaming, k-ID is not just easing parental concerns but also solving a significant pain point for the gaming industry.

This innovative approach could reshape how children interact online, making digital spaces safer and more accessible for young gamers worldwide.
