Silicon Valley’s billionaire investors, including David Sacks and Chamath Palihapitiya, hosted a fundraiser at Sacks’ San Francisco mansion to support former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

Making Trump support cool again

The event featured a 33-foot inflatable chicken resembling Trump, donning a prisoner’s uniform – a bold reference to his recent conviction in the hush-money case.

Sacks, the Craft Ventures cofounder, hopes the fundraiser will shift the narrative and make it acceptable to acknowledge support for Trump openly.

He believes the event will create a “preference cascade,” encouraging more people to express their backing for the former president.

Silicon Valley’s Growing Trump Train Sacks isn’t the only billionaire in Silicon Valley backing Trump.

Big bucks for the big guy

Sequoia Capital partner Shaun Maguire has also endorsed him, Tesla CEO Elon Musk seems to be cozying up to the former president, and Anduril founder Palmer Luckey plans to host another Trump fundraiser in Southern California.

Donors at the Thursday reception and dinner with Trump reportedly coughed up $12 million, some tickets selling for $50,000 each, a higher-tier ticket costing up to $300,000.

The event was expected to draw about 25 people for dinner and another 50 guests for the larger reception.
