- Digital nomad Pieter Levels recommends Thailand for remote workers
- Thailand ranks high in expat living surveys
- Brazil offers great experiences but requires caution in certain areas
From Spreadsheets to Startups
Pieter Levels, a successful digital nomad and entrepreneur, has shared his insights on the best places for remote workers to set up shop.
Levels, who has visited 40 countries and founded over 40 startups, including the popular Nomad List, recently revealed his top picks in an interview on the “Lex Fridman Podcast.”
Thailand Takes the Crown
Despite his extensive travels, Levels still considers Thailand, particularly Bangkok and Chiang Mai, the cream of the crop for digital nomads.
He cites the country’s friendly people, ease of living, and affordability as key factors.
This sentiment is echoed in the 2024 Expat Insider report, which ranked Thailand sixth overall among 174 countries for expat living.
Brazil’s Balancing Act
Levels also expressed admiration for Brazil, praising its amazing qualities despite acknowledging safety concerns in certain areas.
The country ranked seventh in the Expat Insider report and topped the list for friendliness towards foreign residents.
However, it scored poorly in categories such as political stability and personal safety, highlighting the importance of careful location selection for digital nomads.
