In the old days I used to think like many others that it takes a new hire about 90 days to add value… now I think it is not more than 2.
When you ask someone with this viewpoint “why does it take 90 days for a new hire to add value to your company?”
You will get a plethora of things like…
1 – They need to learn how we do things
2 – They need to learn our culture
3 – They need to get to know the people
But in the “Everything is a Task” system I use now (which is not that hard for pretty much anyone to use, and at almost any scale)..
1 – Literally everything is a process in clickup and so ‘learning how we do things’ is usually possible within the first day as it is all very visible
2 – We operate based on a disciplined system of ‘everything is a task’ and therefore that is the ‘culture’.
I find a person will have this down within 1-2 days, and there is nothing else about the ‘culture’ that i want them to learn as that makes it simple.
3 – They don’t need to get to know anyone else to be effective.
We have pretty much zero meetings, everything is a task, and if they need someone’s help they just tag that person in Clickup and they will get support almost immediately.
Not because of a relationship, rather because that is the process.
Who’s gonna do things faster? The company that onboards in 90 days or the one that does it in 2?
Try the “Everything is a Task” philosophy (link in the comments) and let me know how it goes 🙂
