Here’s an unfortunate universal truth:
Time kills everything.
But it kills one thing faster than all others:
INSPIRATION
Why?
Because Inspiration is a fleeting biological response to dopamine.
Which is why:
Your probability of success decreases as time between idea and execution increases.
The ability to Quickly translate Inspiration into Momentum is a superpower.
Here’s the key variable:
SPEED
“The strength of an army, like power in mechanics, is estimated by multiplying the mass by the VELOCITY.” – Napoleon
Here’s how I would adapt this to business:
The strength of a business is determined by multiplying the Quality of Idea by the Speed of Execution.
In my experience, Speed and Quality of Execution stem from Focus and Clarity.
If you can clearly see where you’re going and you’ve crafted a good enough plan for getting there, then all that remains is to execute to your best ability.
Now, here’s something interesting:
The ability to execute is a skill.
The more you do it, the better you get.
So here’s the takeaway:
Do more reps.
Seriously, however you’ve decided to make money or build a business…
Just do more of it.
Eventually you’ll get really good at that thing… at which point you can focus on Doing Less, But Better…
But not until you’ve established a baseline ability through sheer volume of repetition.
Remember:
You can overcome so many of your businesses technical weaknesses with SPEED.
Speed of Decision.
Speed of Execution.
Simply put:
Think Less, Do More.
Strike while the iron is hot, because as @naval says:
“Inspiration is perishable.”
Use it or lose it.
