Rules for Life:
(Entrepreneur Edition)
1. System design is often just productive procrastination.
If you’re spending more time designing the system than you are executing the system…
Your priorities are f*cked.
Complicated systems often obscure true effectiveness.
Until you reach a certain scale, worrying about the fancy tech solution is probably a poor use of your time.
2. Take pride in everything you do.
If you’re not proud of what you’re doing… stop.
This applies to products, marketing campaigns, and everything between.
3. Every customer is the MOST important.
If you’re going to take someone’s money, treat them like the most important customer you’ve ever had.
But remember… You don’t have to take their money.
This is the best way I know to grow brand.
4. Culture trickles down.
The quickest way to lose your team’s respect (and buy-in) is to not follow through on what you say.
The second quickest way is to show up late and unprepared for meetings.
5. You will unlock unlimited growth the day you master the Theory of Constraints and the ability to focus.
A system will never grow beyond its biggest constraint (aka: bottleneck).
Your business will struggle to grow until you identify that constraint and then focus all your energy on removing it.
This, in turn, will reveal a new constraint.
The secret to unlocking massive growth depends on how quickly you can repeat this cycle.
P.S. YOU are almost always your businesses biggest constraint.
**LIGHTNING ROUND**
• Get a hobby outside of work.
• It’s very easy to overthink… but very hard to overexecute. Think Less, Do More.
• You have limited YES’es. Guard them ruthlessly.
• You have unlimited NO’s. Use them freely.
• Sales is simply a numbers game. Make more pitches.
• You can have Speed, Price, or Convenience. Pick two and execute unapologetically for missing the third.
• Have fun. You’re playing the greatest game in the world!
