This weekend marks two years since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Despite the ongoing conflict, Ukraine’s tech startup ecosystem has shown remarkable resilience. Of 500+ tech firms in Kharkiv before the war, 500 still operate today.

Google launched a startup support fund

Support has flowed in from Western tech giants like Google, which launched a $10M Ukraine startup support fund this week.

Accelerators are also backing Ukrainian startups, and a new UK-Ukraine defense tech program has been established.

Tech specialists have grown 7% despite the war

A survey found Ukraine’s number of tech specialists has grown 7% to over 300,000, with most staying despite the war. Tech contributed $7.1B, or 4.9%, to Ukraine’s GDP in 2022. Startups are pivoting to defense applications.

As the war grinds on, Ukraine’s startups continue to operate and even expand, exporting innovations globally. Their perseverance and adaption in the face of adversity serve as an inspiration.
