- Singapore semiconductor startup Silicon Box hit unicorn status with a $200M Series B.
- The firm innovates a “chiplet” architecture to democratize access beyond dominant industry players.
- Silicon Box will expand its chiplet tech globally, targeting AI, data centers and more.
Singapore-based semiconductor startup Silicon Box announced Tuesday it has raised $200 million in a Series B funding round. The new investment vaults the young firm past a $1 billion valuation, granting it coveted “unicorn” status.
Innovating chiplet architecture
Silicon Box specializes in an innovative “chiplet” architecture that allows chip designers to break away from the limitations of single-chip processors. In the recent funding round, Cofounders Sehat Sutardja, Weili Dai, and Byung-joon Han joined leading VC funds BRV Capital, Event Horizon Capital, Lam Capital, and TDK Ventures.
The chiplet approach aims to democratize access to advanced semiconductor technology for creators worldwide.
Dominating the industry
Silicon Box points to costly traditional packaging methods that have cemented the dominance of only the best-funded industry players.
Its purpose-built Singapore manufacturing hub has mass-produced commercial chiplets for early customers since October 2022.
Targets to expand chiplet globally
Silicon Box plans to accelerate hiring and expand its chiplet architecture globally. Key targeted applications include AI, data centers, mobile devices, and automotive electronics.
The funding and growth trajectory validate enthusiasm around the firm’s goal of unlocking new semiconductor performance frontiers.
