Technical troubles crash the party
Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s highly anticipated X Spaces event hit a major snag on Monday afternoon.
Scheduled for 5 PM PT, users attempting to join the conversation were met an error message, stating “This Space is not available.” The event finally kicked off at 5:42 PM PT, 42 minutes behind schedule.
Trump’s triumphant return?
The conversation marked Trump’s return to X after a three-year hiatus. The former president had been banned from the platform in January 2021 but was reinstated by Musk in November 2022.
Prior to the event, Trump promoted the conversation and shared campaign ads on his newly active X account. Musk blamed the delay on a “massive DDOS attack,” suggesting opposition to Trump’s appearance.
However, this isn’t the first time X Spaces has faced technical difficulties during high-profile political events. In May 2023, Ron DeSantis’s campaign announcement on the platform was similarly interrupted.
