- Instagram lets users reset recommendations
- The feature targets teens first
- Global rollout comes soon
Say Goodbye to Stale Content!
Meta announced testing of a new Instagram feature letting users completely reset their recommendation algorithms across explore, reels, and feed sections.
The update aims to provide users a clean slate when they feel stuck in an undesirable content loop.
Teens First, Everyone Later
Though initially focused on teen users, the feature will roll out globally soon. It arrives alongside Meta’s recent push toward safer, age-appropriate experiences through default “teen accounts” offering enhanced privacy settings.
The Fresh Start Challenge
Instagram head Adam Mosseri warns the reset makes feeds less engaging initially since the platform must relearn user preferences.
The change follows TikTok’s similar feature launched last year, highlighting social platforms’ growing focus on user content control.
