Open-source supremacy strikes again

Singapore’s homegrown tech titan, Supabase, has taken a giant leap forward in the app development arena by acquiring Oriole, a cloud-native storage engine extension for PostgreSQL.

This strategic move promises to turbocharge Supabase’s open-source alternative to Firebase, empowering developers to build and scale web and mobile applications with unprecedented ease.

Oriole’s innovative storage solution, designed for modern hardware and low-maintenance operations, will soon be integrated into Supabase’s robust offerings.

Developers can expect an enhanced database experience, unlocking new realms of possibilities for storing and retrieving data seamlessly.

Lion City roars, Silicon Valley takes notice

Founded in 2020 by visionaries Paul Copplestone and Ant Wilson, Supabase has rapidly ascended, securing prestigious clients like Xendit and Mendable.

Following a remarkable $80 million Series B funding round led by Felicis in 2022, the company’s trajectory continues soaring, solidifying Singapore’s position as a global tech trailblazer.
