The travel SIM that’s soaring high

For frequent globetrotters, staying connected across borders can be a hassle. However, embedded SIM (eSIM) technology, allowing users to activate mobile plans without physical SIMs, offers a solution.

Valued at US$4.7 billion in 2023, the eSIM market is expected to skyrocket to US$16.3 billion by 2027.

Airalo, a Singapore-headquartered eSIM marketplace, stands poised to capitalize on this growth. Less than a year after securing a US$60 million Series B round, the company has surpassed the 10 million user milestone, according to a statement.

Taking the eSIM game global

Airalo, self-proclaimed as the world’s first and largest eSIM marketplace, unveiled a new B2B and B2B2C platform dubbed Airalo Partners. This platform enables travel agents, resellers, and corporates to distribute eSIMs.

Launched in 2019 by Ahmet Bahadir Ozdemir and Abraham Burak, Airalo offers eSIMs for travelers in over 230 countries, providing services in 53 languages. Its backers include Peak XV Partners, Rakuten Ventures, and SingTel Innov8.

Airalo states it has over 5,000 partners for its existing offerings and is incorporated in Delaware, USA, with hubs in Istanbul and Toronto.
