Is AI the secret sauce for better warfare?
Anduril founder Palmer Luckey believes that AI will improve war for everyone by putting “all the cards on the table.”
In an interview with Bloomberg’s Emily Chang on “The Circuit,” Luckey expressed hope that even dictators will make better decisions due to the enhanced information provided by AI.
Luckey pointed to Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 as an example of how AI could have altered the course of events.
He argued that if the Russian leader had used AI to better understand the situation, he might not have launched the attack when he did. “If he had had a better understanding of what he had and what they had, I think he probably would not have made the play,” Luckey said.
Lattice software, the ultimate sidekick
Anduril, Luckey’s defense tech startup, boasts an AI-powered solution to address military challenges for the US and its allies.
The company’s proprietary AI-powered software system, Lattice, serves as a command center for human operators to control a network of autonomous devices for surveillance and other missions.
Luckey believes that the US maintains an advantage over adversaries through software like Lattice, stating, “Using software to make decisions twice as fast or ten times as fast is a capability I don’t think our adversaries are close to copying.”
