Son Nguyen, founder and CEO of Dat Bike, an electric motorcycle manufacturer in Vietnam, embarked on his entrepreneurial journey after recognizing the growing demand for electric mobility in his home country.

Inspired by the potential of technology to address Vietnam’s challenges, Nguyen launched Dat Bike to steer the nation toward a greener future. In an interview ahead of Tech in Asia’s Saigon Summit, Nguyen shared his excitement about Vietnam’s thriving EV scene.

Vietnam’s EV ecosystem: a powerhouse in the making

Vietnam boasts the largest electric two-wheeler market in Southeast Asia, with an annual growth rate of 80%.

The country’s strategic advantage lies in its access to rare earth metals crucial for battery production and its established manufacturing ecosystem tailored to two-wheelers.

Nguyen believes that Vietnam’s clear commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship makes the widespread adoption of EVs not just promising but inevitable, presenting unique opportunities for investors and innovators.

Lessons learned and wisdom shared

As a founder, Nguyen has learned never to wait for perfection, embracing the mantra “done is better than perfect.”

He advises aspiring entrepreneurs to believe wholeheartedly in the value they bring to people and to follow their unique path fearlessly.

At the upcoming Saigon Summit, Nguyen will discuss Dat Bike’s approach to product development, focusing on achieving the best ratio between performance and price while maintaining a commitment to sustainability and innovation in the electric vehicle industry.
