Alodokter raises $5.2M funding
Indonesia-based health-tech firm Alodokter has successfully raised $5.2 million in funding, as confirmed by the company to Tech in Asia.
This recent investment comes on the heels of a $6 million injection from Optima Health last year. The influx of capital was provided by HL Mando, a Korean automotive manufacturer, and Beacon Venture Capital, the corporate VC unit of Thailand’s Kasikornbank.
While Alodokter declined to disclose its valuation, it’s estimated to be around $136.1 million, according to Alternatives.pe.
Alodokter aims to expand and enhance its digital healthcare ecosystem, catering to its substantial user base of 25 million monthly active users.
Established in 2014 by Nathanael Faibis and Suci Arumsari, Alodokter offers a range of healthcare services, including online doctor consultations, appointment booking, and educational health content.
Growing digital health services
Among its notable investors are SoftBank Ventures Asia, Golden Gate Ventures, and Sequis Life.
Last year, Alodokter acquired Diary Bunda, a pregnancy-tracking app, from Japan-based Marubeni Corporation, although the financial details were not disclosed.
Additionally, the company introduced Alni, a chat-based virtual assistant specifically designed for physicians.
Leveraging conversational AI, Alni aids telemedicine practitioners in tasks such as pre-assessing patients, thereby streamlining healthcare delivery.
Innovating with AI in healthcare
Alodokter’s strategic moves reflect its commitment to innovation in the healthcare sector, leveraging technology to provide accessible and efficient healthcare solutions.
The recent investment underscores investor confidence in the company’s vision and potential for growth in the digital health landscape.
With continued development and expansion, Alodokter is poised further to revolutionize healthcare accessibility and delivery in Indonesia and beyond.
