Reaping from trials and errorsThe pandemic silver lines

In a remarkable tale of entrepreneurial grit, three Singaporean friends have propelled their homegrown ergonomic furniture brands, ErgoTune and EverDesk, to a multimillion-dollar acquisition within a mere four years.

Launched in 2017 without any venture capital backing, their brainchild was born out of frustration with the lack of affordable, high-quality ergonomic office solutions available.

Reaping from trials and errors

The founders’ inexperience in furniture manufacturing did not deter them from sourcing materials from across Asia and establishing their first warehouse in a residential home.

Through a series of trials and errors, they perfected their products and launched via a pre-order model, which was an immediate hit, garnering $5,200 in sales within the first week.

Undeterred by their initial cash crunch, the founders’ resourcefulness and commitment to customer satisfaction paved the way for their eventual success.

The pandemic silver lines

As the COVID-19 pandemic swept the globe, ErgoTune and EverDesk experienced an explosive surge in demand, with revenues skyrocketing by 150% to over $9.6 million in 2021. Their ergonomic chairs found a following in 20,000 units sold, and their footprint expanded to Australia.

In 2022, their remarkable journey culminated in an estimated $8.8 million acquisition by e-commerce aggregator Una Brands, marking one of the largest acquisitions of Singapore-based direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands.

With Una Brands’ backing, ErgoTune and EverDesk are poised to conquer new frontiers, bolstering their presence on Amazon and establishing physical showrooms.

Having already launched in the United States and the Philippines in 2023, the brands’ sights are set on becoming the region’s preeminent ergonomic furniture providers, fueled by their founders’ unwavering determination and Una Brands’ strategic support.
