- VNG appoints acting CEO Kelly Wong
- Founder Le Hong Minh’s status unclear
- Company continues operations amid leadership change
Gaming Giant’s Surprise Move
VNG Corp., Vietnam’s leading video game distributor, has made a surprising announcement. The company has appointed Kelly Wong, previously the deputy CEO, as its acting CEO.
This unexpected shift in leadership comes without any explanation regarding the status of founder and long-time CEO Le Hong Minh.
Mystery Surrounds Minh’s Departure
The company’s silence on Minh’s situation has raised eyebrows in the industry. VNG’s recent half-year earnings report still listed Minh as CEO, adding to the confusion.
Typically, an acting CEO is brought in when the current chief executive is unable to perform their duties or has been removed from the position.
Wong’s Experience and VNG’s Future
Kelly Wong brings nearly two decades of experience to his new role, having held leadership positions at KIDO, Red Wok Investment, and Ho Chi Minh City Securities Corp.
Despite the leadership change, VNG assures that all operations will continue as usual.
The company, founded in 2004, has grown significantly under Minh’s leadership, expanding into messaging platforms and payment services, and establishing a global presence.
