Many avid online shoppers were intrigued by Google’s new shopping feature that allows users to swipe left or right on clothing, providing a more centralized source of personalized results.

The update, which started rolling out on March 27, is available for users in the US on mobile browsers and the Google app.

How to use the feature

To access the feature, users need to sign in, turn on personalization controls, and ensure that web & app activity and personal results are enabled.

By searching for a product category like “maxi dress” or “workout pants” and scrolling down to “style recommendations,” users can select their favorite brands and start rating options with a thumbs up or thumbs down, or by swiping right or left.

After rating a few items, the tool generates a bunch of styles that match the user’s preferences. The feature also shows results in future Google visits under “style picks for you.”

If users change their mind about a preference, they can easily manage and edit their likes in the settings.

Google’s ongoing efforts to enhance online shopping

Google has recently introduced several features to improve the shopping experience, including Virtual Try On, which allows users to see clothes on a wide range of skin tones and body types.

And an AI image generation tool that helps users visualize the style they have in mind by connecting image generation technology with over 45 billion listings.

These features demonstrate Google’s commitment to providing a more personalized and interactive online shopping experience.
