Learning Gets a Tech Upgrade
Chulalongkorn University has partnered Google Cloud to launch ChulaGENIE, a groundbreaking generative AI platform designed for higher education.
The innovative project will provide advanced AI capabilities to staff, faculty, and students, beginning January 2025 for educators and March 2025 for students. Leveraging Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, the platform offers a curated selection of AI foundation models integrated into a secure, flexible environment.
From Classroom to Cutting Edge
ChulaGENIE aims to transform educational technology by enabling users to create custom AI agents for specialized tasks. The university plans to develop an open-source, domain-specific Thai large language model that could revolutionize personalized learning. Potential applications include adaptive learning technologies that customize exercises, explanations, and feedback based on individual student needs.
Building AI Skills, Transforming Education
The collaboration extends beyond the platform. Over 800 Chula community members have completed Google’s AI Essentials course, earning certificates in generative AI tool usage.
The university is also adapting the curriculum for non-native English speakers, ensuring broad accessibility. Google Cloud’s Country Director emphasizes the project’s potential to unlock new possibilities in research and academia, ultimately benefiting Thai society.
