Global Ambitions Spark Mega Fundraising Rocket

Trendyol, the Turkish e-commerce powerhouse backed by Alibaba, is preparing to launch a massive fundraising campaign targeting over $1 billion from international investors.

The strategic move aims to fuel global expansion efforts, particularly in the United Kingdom and United States markets.

Investment Frenzy Signals Major Growth Strategy

Citigroup leads the private placement transaction, attracting significant interest from top global investment funds. The fundraising initiative follows Alibaba’s recent $350 million capital injection, which increased its stake to 86.5% in the rapidly growing platform.

Breaking Boundaries Beyond Turkish Borders

After dramatically increasing its gross merchandise value by 20 times in three years, Trendyol is positioned to reach $10 billion in 2021. The company’s October launch into 27 European countries, including Italy, Spain, and the U.K., underscores its aggressive international growth strategy.
