But Alibaba’s still expecting around 1 billion shopaholics to take part.

They’re serving up coupons and discounts left and right – up to 17% off purchases over 300 yuan on Tmall and 15% off over 200 yuan on Taobao! No wonder merchants are jumping aboard the 11.11 hype train in record numbers.

Global Expansion: 11.11 Goes Beyond Borders

And Alibaba’s not stopping at China.

11.11 festivities have spread globally with sales popping up overseas too. Who needs Black Friday when you have 11.11?

Evexury brands like French fashion house Courrèges are joining the Singles Day craze, with 42% of new Tmall stores being Chinese manufacturers selling direct-to-consumer.
