Bezos Open to Friendship with Musk
Jeff Bezos said this week that he’d be open to burying the hatchet and becoming buds with fellow space race billionaire Elon Musk.
“I agree with you, and I think we’re very like-minded with many of these endeavors. So I think, I’m not saying we’re identical, but we’re very like-minded, so I love that idea,” Bezos told podcaster Lex Fridman.
Fridman had suggested the rocket rivals shake hands and have “a friendship that would inspire the entirety of humanity.”
Rocket rivals and a complicated relationship
While far from BFFs, the two moguls have had a complicated relationship. They race to dominate the private space industry with their companies,, Blue Origin and SpaceX.
Biographer Walter Isaacson recently revealed that Musk once told him he wished Bezos would “get out of his hot tub and yacht” to focus more on his aerospace firm.
But Musk also conceded that Bezos has “reasonably good engineering aptitude,” per past comments.
Potential Meet-Up in the Cosmos
And now it seems the Amazon founder would be game to link up with his fellow space cowboy.
“I don’t know Elon very well,” Bezos admitted. “Judging by the results, he must be a very capable leader.
You cannot have Tesla and SpaceX without being a capable leader. It’s impossible.” A meet-up between the two tycoons would certainly make for some out-of-this-world conversation.
