Heavy hitters on board

Jiawen Ngeow, former COO of Mark Cuban-backed NFT marketplace Mintable, has secured $1.7 million in seed funding for his new Web3 gaming startup, Uncharted, after a tumultuous exit.

The round was led by Shima Capital, attracting strategic investors like The Spartan Group, Double Peak Group, Devmons, and 32-bit.

Uncharted’s angels include Immutable’s founders, Zynga’s Justin Waldron, and Ronin’s Aleksander Larson.

Uncharted’s debut game, Gangster Arena, generated a whopping 150 ether ($486,000) in its inaugural season. With fresh funds, the startup is gearing up for Gangster Arena 2 and plotting its GameFi ecosystem expansion.

Ngeow’s journey traces back to Mintable’s turbulent saga, where legal battles erupted over control and funding amid the NFT market’s downturn, ultimately leading to his departure and newfound venture.
