MrBeast turns down Elon’s X Offer
Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson, the world’s top YouTuber, responded bluntly to Elon Musk’s call for him to share content directly on X.
Donaldson, with over 200 million YouTube subscribers, makes big-budget viral videos costing up to $1 million each.
After Musk advocated for cross-posting, Donaldson responded that even billions of X views wouldn’t fund a fraction of his production costs.
He added he may “test stuff” once the platform’s monetization system expands.
X Monetization Tests
So far, X’s creator revenue program has shown limited potential compared to YouTube. Despite high view counts, one influencer reported making only $1,590 on X monthly.
Donaldson likely earns far more current stickiness exclusively to dominant Google-owned video platforms.
Musk has previously supported Donaldson’s envelope-pushing experiments, defending him against criticism last year.
Monetization limits and production budgets make exclusivity deals challenging for now. The exchange displays X’s overtures to YouTube stars who drive internet attention.
