New Nxera platform
Singapore telecommunications company Singtel announced this week the launch of a new data center brand focused on artificial intelligence initiatives in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
Called Nxera, the new platform aims to support AI development in the region through partnerships with companies like Nvidia and Sembcorp in areas such as computing power, renewable energy, and talent development.
Under an agreement with Nvidia, Nxera data centers will provide access to Nvidia’s high-powered GPU clusters to help companies run AI workloads.
Nxera said its data centers will utilize renewable energy sources through collaborations with companies like Sembcorp, Gulf Energy, and Medco Power Indonesia. It has set a goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2028.
Nxera Academy plans expansion to Thailand and Indonesia
In addition, Nxera is teaming up with five Singapore institutes of higher learning to launch the Regional Sustainable Data Center Academy to train students for careers in the data center industry.
There are plans to expand the program to Thailand and Indonesia later.
The launch of Nxera came after Singtel divested 20% of its regional data center business to private equity firm KKR in a deal that valued the business at around $4 billion in August.
The partnership aims to help Singtel expand its data center footprint across Southeast Asia, with Nxera currently developing new AI-focused data centers in Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand.
