You Can Now Build Your Own ChatGPT Bot – This Could Get Weird
Remember how nuts everyone went over ChatGPT? Well, now you can make your own! OpenAI just dropped a new system that lets anyone build a custom chatbot powered by its AI.
So dust off those PDF manuals and get ready to upload your weird niche knowledge because we’re about to get bombarded by a wave of quirky personality-packed chatbots.
Dubbed “GPTs,” these DIY chatbots are tailored versions of ChatGPT focused on specific topics and purposes. To make one, you just tell the system what you want it to do, feed it files full of info, and let ‘er rip.
OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman demoed the tech by whipping up “Startup Sage” – an advice giver for entrepreneurs fueled by his old conference talks. Wild stuff.
And next month, OpenAI plans to unleash hordes of these hyper-specific GPTs through a new app store. They say it’ll be an “iPhone moment” for AI.
Big claim, but it does sound promising. The store could make AI way more accessible while letting people tune bots to their niche needs. Though managing all those quirky chatbots may get hairy fast.
Speaking of new AI, OpenAI also unveiled their jacked-up GPT-4 Turbo model. It handles way more complex prompts, costs less to run, and actually knows what’s happened in the world past April 2023 – a huge glow-up from the OG ChatGPT.
Plus, it can take in images now, so strap in for the visual fun.
GPT-4 Turbo is already breathing new life into ChatGPT. But while developers got hyped on the expanded possibilities, OpenAI says they won’t lower the $20/month fee for us regular folks.
Though they are working on making ChatGPT even smarter. So, for now, enjoy chatting up the classic model and get ready for a flood of weirdly wonderful GPTs!
What will people even build? An AI just for discussing 90s boybands? A knitting assistant named “StitchGPT”? A cooking bot called “FoodGPT” fueled by old recipe blogs?
The possibilities are endless, so buckle up! This could get wonderfully strange.
