Passing the torchA new era dawns

OpenAI, the artificial intelligence research company behind the groundbreaking ChatGPT, announced a pivotal leadership transition.

Ilya Sutskever, a co-founder and the company’s longtime chief scientist, has departed, leaving a remarkable legacy in his wake.

Passing the torch

Stepping into Sutskever’s shoes is Jakub Pachocki, OpenAI’s director of research.

Pachocki, who joined in 2017, has been a driving force behind the company’s AI advancements, including the Dota team’s triumph in defeating human players at the strategy game Dota 2.

A new era dawns

As OpenAI enters a new chapter, Sutskever expressed confidence in the company’s ability to achieve the monumental feat of developing safe and beneficial artificial general intelligence (AGI) under the guidance of Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, and Mira Murati.

Although tight-lipped about his future endeavors, Sutskever hinted at a “personally meaningful” project on the horizon.
