Krutrim: India’s AI unicorn
Krutrim, an Indian artificial intelligence company launched just months ago by ride-hailing pioneer Bhavish Aggarwal, has raised $50 million in its first funding round at a $1 billion valuation.
The infusion makes Krutrim India’s newest AI unicorn and its fastest-ever startup to reach the milestone.
Bhavish Aggarwal’s AI venture
Krutrim aims to develop a full stack of AI technologies, including large language models, conversational interfaces, and computing infrastructure tailored to India.
Its multilingual AI system, unveiled last month, supposedly bests global alternatives across benchmarks.
“India has to build its own AI,” said founder Aggarwal, who remains CEO of Ola.
Meteoric rise
“We are fully committed to building the country’s first complete AI computing stack.” Upcoming releases include an AI assistant and enterprise APIs.
The young firm also plans major investments in data centers to support advanced AI development.
Krutrim’s meteoric funding round signals intense interest in indigenous AI amid geopolitical rifts and growing emerging market needs.
