AI Studio unveiled
Google has introduced AI Studio, a web-based development platform to create chatbots and other applications easily using its new Gemini language model. Billed as the fastest way to build with Gemini, AI Studio provides a generous free usage tier.
Unveiled last week, Gemini is Google’s large language model, which comes in three variants. AI Studio grants access to Gemini Pro for text interactions and the Gemini Pro Vision computer vision model.
Developer friendly
Developers can quickly design conversational prompts, tune safety guardrails, and get API keys to embed creations into their apps. Code can also be exported to continue working in professional IDEs.
“We want to invite developers to play with it,” said Google Labs VP Josh Woodward. The free quota allows up to 60 requests per second, sufficient for most side projects.
AI Studio aims to make adopting Gemini seamless, with SDKs for major platforms like Node.js and Swift. Integration with developer tools like Chrome Dev and Firebase arrives next year.
As an onramp to Google’s broader AI ecosystem, AI Studio signals extensive Gemini support across services. The generous free access lets developers experiment at scale.
