It is only 2 months into 2024 and the job market in Thailand is filled with opportunities especially in specific niche industries.

AIRA dived into the data in JobsDB and LinkedIn for you to uncover which industry posted the most jobs in February 2024 and identified the top hiring companies within each industry.

Marriott Hotels remain the top hirer in Thailand

(Top Hiring Companies – No. of job listings)

Number of new Job listings this month: 5447 Jobs

  • Entry Level: 1255 Jobs
  • Mid Level: 2784 Jobs
  • Senior Level: 1408 Jobs

Top Hiring Company: Marriott Hotels

Marriott Hotel’s mass hiring has not gone unnoticed by AIRA. The largest hotel chain in the world might be onto something that is brewing in their industry, let AIRA find out what it is for you.

AIRA Insights:

Wondering why Marriott International is hiring so much?

  • Marriott International plans to build more than 36 hotels and executive apartments in Thailand over the next four to five years, creating more than 7,000 jobs.
  • Government promoting tourism to boost economy as it recovers post covid

AIRA:  With continued support from the government, Thailand currently boasts the fastest recovery in tourism in Southeast Asia. Marriott International recognises this and is making a big play to reposition themselves at the forefront of the booming tourism industry in Thailand, hence the heavy hiring.

Hospitality & Tourism triumphs all other industries in February

(Top Hiring Companies by Industry – No. of job listings)

The Hospitality/Tourism industry leads the way, closely followed by Marketing/Advertising and Technology/Software. We already covered why Hospitality/Tourism are booming.

However Tech and Software demand might seem curious given the Tech Layoffs that continue to scourge the internet. Why is that so? Let us allow AIRA to digest the information for us.

AIRA Insights:

  • Less than 25% of the Jobs listed by Technology and Software companies are looking for Tech roles such as data analyst or programmer.
  • Majority of jobs listed are in sales, marketing, HR and business development.
  • Thailand’s e-commerce market is projected to reach $51 billion by 2027, with a 13.3% YoY increase in 2023
  • Surge in e-commerce equates to an increase in logistical demands, marketing/ digital advertising and customer service.

AIRA: The continuously booming e-Commerce and tourism industry in Thailand force Tech companies’ like Shopee, Grab and Agoda to hire in order to support the infrastructure of e-commerce and tourism.

Their jobs listed, interestingly, are majority not pertaining to Tech and Software but rather marketing and advertising.

Sales and Marketing are highly sought after

(Top Hiring Companies by Job Function – No. of job listings)

E-Commerce and Tourism is really looking to be the headline for job listings in February in Thailand. Companies within the Tourism and E-Commerce sectors are mainly responsible for the huge demand for Sales and Marketing job functions! Information Technology also remains extremely important.

AIRA Insights:

  • Around 50% of the job listing in Sales are mid-level entries. With most job positions being managerial roles; Store managers, sales managers etc.
  • Only 10% of the job listing in Marketing are entry-level. However, 1/3 of the jobs only require job experience or 2 years or less.
  • IT is most diverse job function with hiring companies from all various industries from accounting firm to banks to tech companies.

AIRA: Being comfortable with data, information and its accompanying software is paramount. Virtually all industries are looking for jobs in the IT sector.

Sales and Marketing are also jobs that look to be rather resistant against the rise of AI.
