- Adobe unveils AI-powered sound generation tool
- Project Super Sonic creates audio from text, objects, and voice
- Tool aims to streamline video sound design process
Lights, camera, AI-ction!
Adobe unveiled Project Super Sonic at its annual MAX conference, showcasing an experimental prototype that could revolutionize video sound design.
This innovative tool uses AI to generate background audio and sound effects for video projects through text prompts, object recognition, and even voice imitation.
Not just another text-to-audio trick
What sets Project Super Sonic apart is its multi-modal approach. Users can click on objects in video frames to generate associated sounds or imitate desired audio effects vocally, timing them to the video. The AI then transforms these inputs into professional-quality sound effects.
From lab to editing suite
Justin Salamon, Adobe’s head of Sound Design AI, emphasizes the project’s focus on user control and creativity. The tool analyzes various characteristics of vocal input to guide the generation process.
Adobe MAX often features experimental “sneaks,” but given the team’s involvement in other successful AI projects, Super Sonic may soon find its way into Adobe’s Creative Suite.
