Orbit Startups Announces Nine Firms for Its Fifth Batch

Nine companies from the fifth batch of Orbit Startups, a worldwide venture capital fund that promotes frontier and emerging markets, have been awarded seed money, with each company receiving around $180,000.

The financial, agritech, health tech and mobility industries are among those from which the chosen firms hail. Moreover, they come from different countries like Bangladesh, Thailand, etc, and even UAE.

The Selected Startups

The startups in Orbit’s latest cohort are:

1. BeeCuick (Mexico) – a startup digitalizing hospitality procurement in Latin America.

2. Efinti (Colombia) – a provider of digital asset-backed loans for SMEs in Latin America.

3. Fashol (Bangladesh) – a firm that aims to solve agriculture supply chain issues through digitalization.

4. MedEasy (Bangladesh) – an online healthcare and medication services provider.

5. MyAlice (United Arab Emirates) – a customer chat platform for e-commerce services in the Middle East.

6. Pyxis (Kenya) – a startup that facilitates cross-border trade payments between Africa and Asia.

7. Sage Health (Thailand) – a company that integrates AI into real-time healthcare data services.

8. Umrah Companions (Saudi Arabia) – a startup making pilgrimage affordable and manageable for 1.8 billion Muslims.

9. Weego (Morocco) – a one-stop shop for mobility across Africa.

Seed Funding and Follow-On Investment Opportunities

In addition to seed funding, Orbit also gives the selected startups access to follow-on investment opportunities.

Oscar Ramos and William Bao Bean, general partners of the venture capital firm, have twenty years of combined expertise investing in high-growth areas. Additionally, the two are SOSV general partners.
