A New Way to Browse

Google is rolling out major changes to its Search experience, starting on mobile. The tech giant is leveraging its Gemini AI models to reimagine how search results appear and how users interact queries. This marks a significant departure from the traditional page of blue links.

AI Takes the Wheel

For certain queries, Google’s AI organizes search results into categories, pushing videos, forum links, and other widgets to the top.

Initially launching for recipe searches, this feature is set to expand to other topics. Rhiannon Bell, VP of user experience for Google Search, calls it “a pretty dramatic shift from before.”

Lens Gets Smarter

Google Lens is also getting an AI boost. Users can now take videos and ask Lens questions about the footage, or use voice commands to query objects in real-time.

Shopping features on Lens are being enhanced, the app recognizing 20% of all searches are shopping-related.
