Accelerator evolution

Y Combinator, the renowned Silicon Valley startup accelerator, plans to increase its annual cohorts from two to four starting in 2025. This strategic shift aims to provide more focused attention to participating startups.

Same scale, new approach

Despite doubling the number of cohorts, YC president Garry Tan confirmed that the total number of companies going through the program each year will remain consistent. This means each cohort will be approximately half the size of recent years.

Investor opportunities expand

The move to four cohorts per year translates to twice the number of demo days. This change offers investors increased opportunities to connect face-to-face with promising startups, potentially leading to more fruitful partnerships.
