Fitness frenzy? Not for the young ones

YouTube is expanding its efforts to shield teens from potentially harmful content related to fitness and physical appearance.

The video giant is rolling out safeguards globally that will limit teenagers’ exposure to videos promoting unrealistic body standards or idealizing certain fitness levels.

Fighting social aggression, one video at a time

In addition to body image concerns, YouTube will also restrict teens’ access to content displaying “social aggression,” including non-contact fights and intimidation.

The platform acknowledges that while individual videos may not be harmful, repeated exposure could negatively impact developing minds.

Parents get a peek behind the curtain

Coinciding with these changes, YouTube has introduced a new tool allowing parents to link their accounts to their teens’, providing insights into their children’s platform activity.

This move aligns YouTube with other social media giants in offering supervised accounts for younger users.
