Tech giant goes back to school

Databricks, the data and AI powerhouse, has announced a ambitious partnership NTUC LearningHub and NUS ICT Academy to train over 10,000 Singaporeans in advanced data and AI skills.

The three-year program aims to equip both seasoned professionals and newcomers to the field fundamental data and AI technology, common workloads, and Databricks tools.

Singapore’s AI ambitions get a boost

Senior Minister of State Tan Kiat How praised the initiative, highlighting its alignment Singapore’s refreshed National AI Strategy.

The move follows Databricks’ success in training 3,000 data and AI professionals since its 2021 entry into the country.

The company also plans to expand its presence, making Singapore its regional hub for Asia-Pacific and Japan operations.

Big Tech bets on the Lion City

Valued at a staggering $56 billion, Databricks’ investment in Singapore underscores the city-state’s appeal to tech giants.

The company cites Singapore’s skilled workforce, transparent regulations, and political stability its key attractions.

Databricks’ expansion includes plans to hire more senior leaders for regional roles based in Singapore, further cementing its commitment to the local tech ecosystem.
