Home away from home-plus

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky unveiled plans to expand the company’s offerings beyond traditional vacation rentals.

The upcoming services include co-hosting, a revamped “experiences” feature, and guest services. These additions aim to diversify Airbnb’s revenue streams and cement its position as a multifaceted travel platform.

Co-hosting, set to launch this fall, will connect homeowners lacking time to manage listings with individuals eager to host but without properties.

This innovative approach could significantly increase Airbnb’s inventory. Additionally, the company plans to reintroduce its “experiences” feature next year, promising more affordable and unique activities for guests.

Airbnb’s expansion strategy comes amid a challenging second quarter, with profits dropping 15% due to slowing U.S. travel demand.

By broadening its services to include personal chefs, massages, and mid-stay cleanings potentially, Airbnb hopes to differentiate itself from hotels and reignite growth in the competitive travel market.
