Flip or flop?

Apple is reportedly developing a foldable iPhone, potentially hitting the market by 2026. The tech giant has reached out to Asian suppliers for components, signaling a possible shift from its iconic design.

However, this move comes years after competitors like Samsung and Huawei have already established themselves in the foldable phone market.

Late to the party

The timing of Apple’s foray into foldable phones raises questions about consumer demand and innovation.

Apple’s recent mixed bag of product launches, including the lukewarm reception of the Vision Pro and the cancellation of its self-driving car project, has left investors wondering about the company’s next big breakthrough.

While Apple’s loyal user base might ensure some success for a foldable iPhone, concerns remain about production costs and pricing.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that maintaining Apple’s quality standards for foldable devices could be expensive.

The tech world watches closely to see if Apple can breathe new life into a concept that’s no longer novel in the smartphone industry.
