Musk Tells Advertisers Boycotting X: “Go F*** Yourself

Elon Musk had some choice words for advertisers pausing spend on X after his recent controversies: “Go f*** yourself.”

The X chief gave his explicit message to brands boycotting the platform during an onstage interview at the DealBook conference.

When asked about the ad pullback, Musk replied: “Don’t advertise. If somebody’s going to try to blackmail me with advertising, blackmail me with money? Go f*** yourself.”

Major advertisers halted X Ads

Major advertisers, including Apple, Disney, and Warner Bros, Discovery, have recently halted X ads over content moderation concerns.

But Musk seems ready to let the platform burn rather than appease critics.

“What this advertising boycott is going to do is kill the company. And the whole world will know that those advertisers killed the company, and we will document it,” he declared.

The defiant stance will likely alarm advertisers considering future X spending and new CEO Linda Yaccarino, who is charged with reviving the platform’s ad business.

It undermines Musk’s previous apologies for boosting an antisemitic conspiracy theory tweet.

X Failed to curb the contents

Just yesterday, Musk posted and deleted a meme pushing the debunked Pizzagate conspiracy.

Research shows X has failed to curb hate speech and antisemitic content under Musk’s ownership.

Yet the billionaire remains adamant that advocacy groups reporting on X’s moderation failures are “trying to undermine freedom of speech.”

His vulgar sendoff to brands hesitant to advertise alongside such content indicates compromising his principles is not on the table.

For advertisers, the “your move” ball is clearly in their court. And Musk just dared them to walk away for good.
