Applecrumby eyes 20 countries by year-end

Malaysian babycare brand and ecommerce platform Applecrumby has secured a $4.2 million growth investment from 500 Global.

The 12-year-old company, founded by husband and wife team Sean and Jesmine Tan, currently has a presence in 11 countries, offering its affordable line of babycare products to markets like China, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Applecrumby aims to expand that number to 20 by the end of the year and have its products available in close to 2,000 retail locations in its home country within the same timeframe.

Innovating in a competitive landscape

Applecrumby develops products like PureBasics diapers, which the company says is the world’s first chlorine-free mass-market diaper product.

The company launched after the birth of the founders’ daughter, frustrated by the lack of safe and natural baby products available in the market. Apart from offline channels, Applecrumby also sells its products through online platforms like Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop.

The new funds will be used to create new products in the PureBasics line, helping Applecrumby fight for market share in Southeast Asia’s competitive babycare landscape, home to players like The Parentinc, KeaBabies, Edamama, and Concung.
